Russia's Prime Minister Vladimir Putin believes that Russia has enough resources to weather the global financial crisis and its aftermath if "we are responsible, focused and task-oriented." Asked when the crisis will be over during a televised live broadcast, Putin explained that analysts and experts were split on the issue, both with regard to the forecasts for the global economy and the effect on Russia. He specified that some analysts presaged that economic upturn would start in the second or third quarter of 2009. However, most experts do not expect the crisis to wane until the spring of 2010, he elaborated.

annual equivalent rate (AER) – a rate of interest, which shows how much interest you receive from an investment in one year, if each interest payment is added to the deposit before the following year's payment is calculated (годовая эквивалентная ставка)

The rates charged by all banks on their lending rise and fall with the base rate, and this has an important influence on the economy as a whole.
